Located immediately
southwest of Omaha Nebraska - La Vista is Nebraska's youngest city,
but it sure has grown up in a hurry. Incorporated in 1960, La Vista
got its start when 335 homes were built with a scenic view of the Big
Papio Creek Basin-and La Vista was named for its Spanish
translation-The View. This thriving community in central Sarpy County,
has established itself as a progressive community poised for even
greater success in the dawn of the 21st century.
La
Vista is strategically located only minutes from Offutt Air Force
Base, the Omaha metropolitan area, Eppley Airfield and the Interstate
system. We feel it is
the
perfect place to raise a family, start a business, and enjoy life.
The
city offers excellent youth and recreation programs. There are ten
parks in the city and a 60 acre sports complex that contains baseball,
softball, football and soccer fields. The city also offers a nine-hole
executive golf course and fully equipped community center for its
citizens recreational use. The community center provides meeting room
space and a senior center as well.
Over
the last ten years, the City of La Vista has constructed multiple new
facilities. A new Public Works facility and a new City Hall/Community
Center were opened in the mid-1990's. A new library was constructed as
a joint project with Metropolitan Community College. A
state-of-the-art police facility is scheduled to be open in the spring
of 2003.
La Vista is
experiencing rapid commercial, industrial and residential development
as it grows to the west. There are several business parks and light
industrial areas available to potential and existing businesses and
new residential areas providing a variety of housing options.
